  • We've got a few since my mom is German. Her name is Ursula which I guess is unique here. And her cousin's name is Guisela.
  • I have two great grandmothers named Etta. Which is what we are naming our little girl. I also have a great grandmother named Eula Venona. That in addition grandma named Mildred and a d a granfather named Forrest.
  • Don't know if they are considered unique or just old fashioned, but here are some from my family.

Grandfather MN: Everal (pron ev-ruhl, well at least that's how I say it)

    Grandmother: Anita Ruby

    Great Uncle: Berle

    Great Aunt: Olita

Great Grandmother: Ettie May (adorable southern name)

  • Here are some of the most unusual from my family.

    My Grandmother:  Euretha

    My Aunt:  Zellia (pronounced Zell-uh)

    A cousin:  Kenna

    My great-grandmother: Vestina

    Great uncle: Ammo (pronounced A-Moe)

  • I think I'm going to win this one...

    Kunigunde.  My great-great-great-Grandmother.

    Also:

    Alphonse
    Aloysius
    Augusta
    Bruno
    Cathans (f)
    Hedwig
    Himer
    Luzia
    Helmuth
    Michella
    Milfewd
    Ora
    Wilma
    Wilhelmina

And many, many German variants of common names (Konrad, Anton, Georg, Petr, Wilhelm)

  • My mother and her youngest two brothers were all born in France when my grandfather was stationed there at the time, so my grandmother gave them all French names.  My mom is the youngest and they moved back here when she was 3, so I imagine this was a bit difficult for her growing up, especially considering how people mispronounce it now that it is used in the states.  Not too strange, but definitely not the norm for their age group here in the US.

    Jaques

    Philip (pronounced Phil-eep)

Chantal (pronounced Shan-taul sh sound as in Shhh...)

  • My grandmothers maiden name is Andon. If we had a girl, her middle name would have been that. I love it.
  • We have some really unique names in my family. Many of these names sound much better in French than in English.

    Radja- Aunt

    Guytelle- Mom

Danielo & Alexio - cousins (spanish)

    Sheila - sister

    Conrad- brother

    Tahnee- cousin

Giselle- grandma (will be our girl's name if we ever have one)

    Alice- great aunt
  • My name is Anita  and my grandpa is Roland.  DH has a lot of German names in his family.  His aunt is Scherle, pronounced like Shirley.
