As someone who as no flipping clue what the heck I am looking for when checking out cribs, diaper bags, what stuff do I actually need and what is just extra junk.... I highly recommend Baby Bargains.
Basically the book breaks down each section of baby goods: funiture, clothing, strollers, car seats, maternity clothes, etc. and tells you what you are looking for in a quality product along with how to save money when you purchase the items. Absolute tons of product reviews and advice.
I was able to snag a used copy of the latest edition from Amazon.com for 9$, just make sure you get the 8th Edition so that your product reviews are the latest.
Re: First time Moms: Book Recommendation
I'm more of the scientific nerdy want to know details type of person, and found that The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy was a better fit for me than What to Expect.
Maybe we could start a book swap? I found that What To Expect was not really my style, so I would love to pass it on to a fellow March Mom.
Or a weekly book recommendation post, where people can mention what they are reading and if they recommend it?
This is a fiction book on pregnancy that I just finished that was so good!! It's like Teen Mom minus the trash, a retelling of Catelynn's story
Girls in Trouble - ( I think it's buy Carolyn Leavitt). It was phenomenal!
I found Baby Bargains to be very useful and informative as well. And I love Expecting 411, which is published by the same company.
I have What to Expect When You're Expecting which comes in handy sometimes. My worst purchase is probably What to Expect: Eating Well While You're Expecting. I Just haven't been able to get past the second chapter because it is soooo boring.
For a laugh, I definitely reccommend Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy and the lesser known What to Expect While You're Expected, by David Javerbaum, which is a parody written toward your growing child.
