B has a temp of 104, she feels so hot it is uncomfortable to hold her.Took her to the pedi this morning and there are no other symptoms. Guess this fever thing is going around. right now she is squirming on my lap and whining. She seems really tired and confused. I can't seem to do anything to make her comfortable. Her fever comes back about 5 hrs after motrin dose. I would give her some acetometaphen, but I haven't been able to find any. Do you think a pharmacy might have some with a Px?
Re: temp of 104
We do keep some behind the counter that MNY covers for their RXs. But you could just buy it, no rx needed. Call around....someone should have some generic tylenol.
The other thing you could do is ask for a small dosing syringe and use that to give children's acetaminophen instead of infants. We have 3ml syringes that we take the needle off which would work perfect, or any type of dosing syringe that shows 1/2 teaspoon. Do you already have some of the childrens tylenol at home for Ty? The infant's concentrated drops are 80mg/0.8ml. The children's suspension is 160mg per teaspoon. So if you gave B 2.5ml (or 1/2 teaspoonful) of the children's liquid you are giving 80mg.
I would def find a way to get acetaminophen into her so you can alternate with motrin and get that fever down.
I hope she feels better soon!
Target almost ALWAYS has infants acetaminophen stocked.. I think they are called "infant pain relief" or something.. the box says something different than just plan "acetaminohpen"
Rite Aid/CVS around here are sort of hit or miss with that thing.
