I tried the Nuva Ring back in May of this year, I had it in from the 23rd-26th so just a few days then decided it really wasn't for me. After that I had a period totalling 11 days which is completely crazy for me since I only have 4 day periods usually.
Last month around 6/23 I started having really sore breasts and they became very lumpy hard and had become bigger, so I thought I was pregnant took tests.. negative then I started on the 29th.
This month since the 20th same thing with the breasts + some other pregnancy symptoms like nausea cramping (primarily on the right side) and a few days ago when I wiped (sorry tmi) I had a streak of red but nothing after that. None of this has ever happened to me before.
According to an ovulation tracker I am on Cycle day 26.
are these problems associated with the nuva ring that I used for 3 days?
Thank you so very much for your time!
Re: Nuva ring questions
Were you on any kind of birth control prior to using the nuva ring?
(I used the nuvaring...I just need more info)
Interesting. I tried Nuva Ring for 3 months several years ago when it was new. During that entire time I bled and had terrible headaches. My GYN at the time said that the bleeding would go away (just breakthrough) & hang in there-after month 3 I told her no & went back on the pill. I didn't link the awful headaches to it until later (when I talking to a coworker who recently had a stroke....she was only 31 & guess what she was using Nuva Ring). There are lawsuits on this thing-I believe it has higher levels of hormone than the pill, so your periods will be strange for the next few months. You may want to google it-even though it is the same hormone as the pill, it is very different.
Your symptoms might be side effects of going off the pill, but they might also just be your normal cycle of symptoms when you have natural cycles with natural hormone fluctuations. The symptoms might change as your body continues to regulate after taking out the nuva ring, or they might not.
For what it's worth, there are 'class action lawsuits' on tons of drugs. Basically, if anything freaky happened to you as a result of taking this drug, you join the group and at the end of the whole dealio, you get your share of a couple bucks. Sometimes the risks of using these drugs are so small that the benefit of using the drug outweighs them. Of course, who knows about long-term effects? I'm reading this book called "The Greatest Experiment Ever Performed On Women" about birth control; I'll share more after I read it.
I used the NuvaRing for a year and didn't have any problems. I just had too much break-through bleeding towards the end of the year, and I switched to a different BC. Everyone reacts differently to different drugs. The dosage of hormones released by the ring is actually low and comparable to Ortho-Tri-Cyclen and other low dose pills. It could be that the combination of hormones isn't right for everyone. It worked for me, but it didn't for you.
I'm sorry about your friend and the stroke, but just because she used Nuva Ring doesn't automatically mean that Nuva Ring caused it. ALL BC pills increase the risk of stroke to some degree. As Sulfa stated, a class action lawsuit doesn't mean that a drug is necessarily dangerous. It just means people are willing to sue whenever something happens and they think a product or a drug caused it. There are times that drugs really are unsafe, usually because of unintended side-effects, but I don't think this is one of them, JMO.
OP - my body adjusted fine from NR to Seasonique. The long period is strange, but the other symptoms you mention - sore breasts, nausea, are all symptoms that I have every month after I've ovulated. If I were you, I'd start charting so that you have a better idea when you O and when to expect AF. Good luck!
Hi! No other forms of birth control just the nuva right
about a year ago i tried loestrin fe for about 2 weeks and... couldn't commit I always try to start things like that but I just feel weird about taking pills daily or having a ring inside me and since... it's terribly hard for me to get pregnant I guess it isn't a need especially right now because we want another baby but... my body tricked me last month with all these symptoms and it's probably got me this month too : ( I just wondered if anyone else had all of the pregnancy symptoms with a negative at the end of the month and.. a visit from AF.
