I have made up my mind to have DD bday theme be yellow rubber ducks.
But...
A) I will be darned if I can find a simple duck shaped cake pan (I have seen the 3-D pan, but my baking abilities are ok,at best..I don't want to mess up her first bday cake)
I cannot find paper plates/cups/napkins with rubber ducks on them, that don't say "baby shower" on them.
C) I need just general inspiration for some other cute decorating ideas. The only idea I have as far as decor is buy some helium balloons, and use all the rubber ducks she has as weights for the balloons.
I need help! I know I still have some time, but I hate rushing around at the last minute.
TIA.
Re: Anyone doing/done a rubber duck theme for bday?
You can't find *** for a rubber duck party b/c it is a massively LAME theme.
YWIA.
WE ARE WE ARE!!! because my DS LOOOOOOOVES rubber ducks! its not a lame idea. to each his own
i am going a giant cupcake for his smash cake and small cupcakes with 3D rubber ducky toppers on theme. making all of them myself
for suppliesand decorations check out 1st Wishes.com. we are using the rubber ducky invites and stuff. its all really cute.
i am really excited. ours is in Sept.
I am pretty sure pharmacygirl (or something like that) did it, she did
"Rubber Ducky your the 1!" theme. She posted pics, I am pretty sure she has moved up, maybe try posting on 12-24.
I woudl just do bright blues and yellows for decor and throw in pops of duckies here & there. Thats more my style anyways. Maybe try to make the invites or get some made for you? I did a rubber ducky baby shower and didn't buy any themed stuff at all and it turned out really cute.
We are doing a bubble theme, and while I was searching for ideas I found many different things that included ducks.
Here is a party package:

I just googled "duck birthday party"
We did a Rubber Ducky theme for my son's first. We used the 3D pan. My mom made it and the hardest part for her was decorating it using the star-tip only because it took forever. It was so cute I didn't even let anyone cut it. It was supposed to be Ben's smash cake and I loved it too much:) You could just frost it with a knife and it would still be darling.
As for ideas, we had a blue punch in a bowl with duckies floating in it. I used a small duck shaped cookie cutter and cut out sliced cheese to top crackers and had a little sign that said, "Cheese n Quackers". I also had little cups of goldfish and a sign that said "Baby Duck Food" for the little ones. Then we had typical things like a crudite platter and fruit platter. You could use a bigger cookie cutter to make duck-shaped cookies or sandwiches(ham/turkey and cheese, pbj, egg/tuna salad) and it would be cute. Ours was a short party so we just did appetizers and cake.
For the bigger cake, I just ordered a plain blue frosted cake and added my own rubber ducks to it. You could get creative and make fondant bubbles, too. I decorated in aqua, white and yellow with lots of streamers and balloons as the main decorations. Or make blue-frosted cupcakes with a mini rubber ducky on top. Oriental Trading Company sells them in big lots. You can use them, along with a washcloth or mesh poof and bubble bath as favors. We also used ducky towels and bathroom decor in the bathroom.
We had planned to play Lucky Ducks(baby pool with ducks floating inside. Each picks a duck and whoever picks the special duck wins) but it was raining. You could also do freeze-dance where they waddle like ducks and make a "Pin the Bill On The Duck" game with a posterboard and a big duck picture.
At the time, Carter's had an adorable rubber ducky line of clothes and he wore a romper from it. You could definitely find ducky stuff on etsy. Like, a blue, white and yellow tutu with a duck appliqued onesie? You might even find the Carter's ducky line on Ebay. When searching it for a dress for my daughter recently, I saw some new ones:)
You should have some manners. Weren't you taught "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all??" Some people, I swear.
Rubber duck theme is really cute! There is lots of stuff out there like that, you just have to search. I would do yellows, blues and greens. Cute idea!
