TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Fvck. Please tell me this cycle is not going to be a bust :(

Following my RE's plan, I took a month of BCP, stopped for 4 days, then took another 2 weeks.  I had my period during the first part of that 2 weeks.

I stopped the BCP on Thursday, and had an appointment Friday. My RE had said that I didn't need to have a period before moving right into the next cycle, so they called that CD 3, told me to start on Clomid and sent me on my merry way.  They told me the estrogen in Clomid would be enough to keep me from getting my period and I'd be all set.

(That's the background.)

So, I started Clomid last night.  Today I have super heavy spotting and cramping, just like the start of my period.  If I get my period now, the timing for this cycle is all whacked, and the Clomid will pretty much do jack schit, right? :-/

  • I don't know for sure, but I say be really diligent about FWPing every other day once your period is totally done. Couldn't hurt!

I'm sorry you're feeling yucky right now, but I have my fingers crossed for you!

  • I'm a little confused about what they told you.  You SHOULD get AF three days after you stop BCP's so what your body is doing seems right on track.  The part I don't understand is why they would tell you that they called it CD3 the day you stopped BCP's?  Did you start your Clomid yet?  What they told you sounds very unusual to me.

However, I have never used BCP's during a Clomid cycle so I could be wrong.  I did 6 Clomid cycles and always started taking them on CD3 and I used BCP's for my IVF cycles and got AF three days after I stopped taking them.  So, I am combining my experiences with this advice so I might be mistaken.

I probably just confused you even more by replying!  (sorry!)

I'm not really sure why I wouldn't have to have, or why I wouldn't automatically get a period either.  I talked directly with the RE about going right from the BCP to clomid (which I did start on Friday night like directed, and today basically have AF :-/) and he just said "no, you won't need a period or any withdrawal bleeding from the pills before you start a new cycle - his reasoning was that BCP thins your lining out anyway, so I wouldn't have a huge lining to do away with, and we'd be fine to start from that point.  When they did the u/s the other day, she did say that my lining was where they wanted it to be (thin, I assume?) and that I had a lot of follicles.

But yeah, now I'm confused.  So, I'm bleeding - but should I not expect to bleed a lot, because my lining was so thin on Friday? Are all my follies going to be gone now? :(  And most importantly, why am I bleeding now, if the estrogen in the clomid is supposed to keep me from having a period (according to the nurse I spoke to on Friday).  Of course this is all happening on a weekend, so I can't call and ask anyone until tomorrow.  UGH. :(
