Daycare suggestions in Delco?

My daughter is 9 months old and we are starting to look at daycares. We live in Drexel Hill, so anything in that general area works. If you know of a great daycare, where the ratio is fairly low, please share!

 Thanks.

  • If anyone has suggestions for the Chichester area that would be appreciated as well.

  • We ended up not having to use daycare, but when we were looking we really liked Sonshine Christian Academy on Garrett Road, and also heard many good personal references for them at the time. The ratio in their infant room is 3 to 1--the only place we found with this low of a ratio. However, they do move the babies up to other rooms based mostly on mobility so your LO would probably be in the second lowest room with other crawlers/early walkers and their ratio may be the traditional 4 to 1. Regardless, Id check them out.

  • Thanks for the info. I have been looking for daycare in Drexel Hill area.  Currently a family member offered to watch the little one.  Do you know what the cost might be?

last year sonshine was just under $1k / month for a full time infant. The daycares in DH we looked at were about $800-$1100 a month. In home care from a friend that's not certified, insured, etc is usually more like $500-$700 a month. At least in our experience.

  • We use an in-home provider in Lansdowne, DS has been with her since 4 months.  She is licensed and has about 6 kids, she has one other helper with her at all times.  I like it because it's personalized but at the same time there is more structure then "just someone watching the kids", they do all kinds of activities.  Let me know if you want her info, it's best to email me jmoran375 at hotmail.com  Also, she's 180/week.

I keep adding info to this.  If you're looking for a center, we were really impressed with Delco Child Care center on Burmont by the trolley tracks, it doesn't look like much from the outside but we really like them.  If we didn't go with our in-home provider that's who we would have gone with.

  • I work at a center in DH... Great Beginnings. We're at the corner of Garrett Rd and Shadeland Ave. Our infant room ratio is 4 to 1 and the infant teacher is great. Depending on when you want your child to start and what days you need there might be some availability (I know right now there are no availabilities, but that'll change in the fall). Anyway if you want to get info or prices just give us a call (if you do decide to call please wait until next week... our director is out this week because of family matters).

My DS goes to an in home licensed daycare in Springfield. I pay $800.00/mo. She makes all her lunches(mainly hot), all you have to provide is baby food, diapers wipes and tissues. DS has been there since he was 8 mos. and this fall he will be going to pre school. I will recommend her to anyone because that is how wonderful she is. If you would like for info please let me know. As of now, she does have openings.
