Just found out Im pcsing there for at least a year. Ive been there before but I dont know of what areas/neighborhoods to live in. I dont want to live too far away, just in a decent neighborhood. Also if you can give me the average price of your rent..

    ok i'm assuming you're meaning ft. sam houston in SA. I apologize if that sounds like a big fat DUH! but just making sure. Not stationed in SA, but my parents live there. The north side's the nicest, but also going to be the most expensive. I would avoid the southside, not really the best area (as is true for most cities...i don't know why that is) are you looking to rent a house or apt? rent's anywhere from $600-$800 a month for an apt. housing isn't expensive, but i don't know what your BAH is like. hth!

    We own on the North Central Side (takes DH about 20 minutes to get to work, but he goes in at 4 or 5am). Stay away from the Southside, if you are looking to rent, look in Alamo Heights, Lincoln Heights, anywhere near the Quarry would be a great commute and nice location. 

    Traffic is terrible on Stone Oak, so I wouldn't rent there. When we first moved down we rented at the marquis at Deerfield. Nice apartments and not bad rent
