Parenting after a Loss

Do you ever think how your next child will be?

I can't wait to have another LO but I wonder how the next one will be. I have such a good little girl. She has been a good sleeper and has had a great personality since she was born. Besides being a super spitter she is the best baby. Everyone tells me that next time my child will be the opposite because it's rare to have two good babies. Anyone else think about this? Anyone have two good babies???

Re: Do you ever think how your next child will be?

  • Yes, I wonder about it all the time now that she's on the way.  I also wonder what she'll look like - if she'll have brown hair like me or be blond like Lillian.

  • I do think about this.  I have heard that too.  But I have met a number of people who have said they got 2 or 3 easy babies.  And I know some people who had multiple diffucult babies (like my parents who got me and my bro and we were both very colicky).

I guess we just need to remember that every baby is different.  But having a high needs baby when you already have an older kid is probably quite hard.  I hope we get another easy baby.

  • I've always been told that the first one is usually the thoughest one, that following babies have a better personality... usually!!!! Other than different sleep times etc. my mom said that she had 4 really good babies.

Yep, my first sounds like your little one. Emma, my second, was (and still can be) a holy terror. She made me scared to have another baby, but Carter is even easier than Ryan, so it all evens out.

DH and I do wonder about this. We think, could we really be so lucky as to get such a good baby again? We hope so! :)

  • Yes, I totally wonder about it. It scares me when I think about having another (although we really don't want DS to be on his own) b/c he's a really good baby, awesome sleeper, etc. I'm afraid to push my luck.

Love it! I'm going to start saying that over and over.

  • Yep, I wonder all the time.  I mostly hope this one is easy because DD is not.  I also wonder whether he/she will look more like me.  DD is fair like DH, and I have dark hair and darker skin.

  • I hope you have two good babies.  I did, but they were #1 and #4.  My 2nd child was the most difficult.  He had colic and didn't sleep through the night until he was almost a year.  It was such a shock to us because our first son was so good and easy.

  • We wonder alot about this, especially since our next LO will only share half of Layne's genes (We will use same donor but Karyn will carry). BUT, with that said, it is so hard for me to think about loving anybody as much as I love Layne....
