TTC After a Loss

WTF is this "no green tea" malarkey??

I've been drinking that_shit like it's my job for a year and half because I read it was GOOD for fertility.

WTF?

I'm quitting. It hasn't done crap for me for the last 18 months, but it just annoys me that I try so hard to be proactive and healthy, only to find out that something I've been doing could be HINDERING my fertility. SO frustrating.

  • I always thought it was good for fertility, bad for pregnancy.

did "they" change "their" minds again? I hate that _shit.

  • My understanding is that it blocks folic acid absorption. Is there another reason it's bad?

  • My RE said to avoid it like there was no tomorrow. Super high in caffeine and blocks FA.

I know, I was pissed too. I have a cabinet full of yummy Organic Pom Green Tea and now I have to stay away!

  • Yeah, that was me that posted it... sorry!

My RE just said no way to green tea.  He said it's counterproductive to fertility, but I don't remember if he said why... I just remembered that I had to tell you girls :-/

ok....but were those the only reasons?? Because I drink decaf green tea....and I always drink it in the PM and take my prenatal in the AM ... AND I take a 400 mg folic acid supplement in addition to what's in my prenatal just as "insurance."

I'm going to stop drinking it just to be safe...I'm just trying not to go crazy with thinking I've been sabotaging myself these last 18 months.

She also mentioned that they think it has an adverse affect on the lining.

  • I dunno, it never had that much of an effect on CM for me, so I'd just as soon rely on drinking lots of water to increase CM rather than worry about the rest.  But I don't think it's high in caffeine at all.  It has more caffeine by volume dry, but brewed, it's only about 25-30mg caffeine to coffee's 60-80.
