  • I would double check with your doctor on what he/she prefers but my doc gave me the go ahead as long as there was no serious dental work going on.  Cleanings were fine and they prefer no x-rays but if they have to be done then just make sure your tummy is covered with the apron.
  • My next checkup is at the beginning of Sept. I'll make sure to tell them I'm pregnant. i don't want any x-rays...just a regular cleaning

    Holy Ticker Central, Batman!!!  LOL.

They will not touch you with a 10 foot pole for an xray.  I've had 2 cleanings while pg and they were so gentle and scared to irritate my gums, my cleanings were very very quick.  Dentists know what is safe and what is not, but of course ask your OB if you're in doubt.

  • Do not neglect your oral health during pregnancy.  Not only can it prove to be very unhealthy for the baby, the calcium leeches from your teeth and can lead to damage in you own mouth --- as far as x-rays in the first trimester goes, it's not advised however many offices now use digital x-rays that use so little radiation that it's not really an issue, however be sure to let them know either way.

  • I have to have a root canal that can't wait til baby is born.  my RE said it was fine as long as I can wait til the 2nd tri.

  • Amber - that's really surprising that your RE wants you to wait so long ... do you know what tooth it is, either number or location?
