Carroll County Pediatrician, please

I really need to get on this.

I hate picking doctors and will probably just go with Carroll Children's Center because that's where everyone goes.  I'm sure I'll end up going through 10 pediatricians before she's a year old.  My trust/faith in doctors is pretty low just because of what I do for a living.  And I know there are good doctors out there, they are just really hard to find and identify.

I'm looking for someone that won't throw antibiotics at everything.

I'm also looking for someone that will not try to treat things outside of their specialty.  In other words, don't be cocky...know when you're in over your head and refer to a specialist.

I don't have any recommendations for you but wanted to comment on the antibiotic thing.  I think doctor's at really shying away from giving them out like they used to so I wouldn't worry about that as much.

On a side note--my mom is old school and thinks an antibiotic will cure everything and  she gives it the eyeroll when I tell her they are only for bacterial infections, not viral.

We are using our Family Phyician as DD's pediatrician.  If your primary care physician's specialty is family medicine, I highly recommend considering this as an option.

It is really nice because DD's doctor is also my doctor.  Every time we go in for a well baby check up, our doctor wants too know how I am doing too.  (Since I had a preemie I was especially high risk for Postpartum Depression, which I didn't get thankfully!)

Good luck finding someone that you are comfortable with!

I totally forgot about having a Family Physician as a pedi!  I just called mine and she does see infants.

    DONE!

Yay!  I am glad that worked out for you.  (Sometimes I feel like such a one-trick pony.  Everytime I see a pediatrician question I give the same answer.  So I am glad I spoke up.)

I totally agree with this! People are FINALLY realizing that the over-prescription of antibiotics is a bad thing. It used to be doctors would give them for every little sniffle. Now I think they definitely try to determine that it is a bacterial infection first.
