Parenting after a Loss

When for jumperoos / exersaucers?

Do they have to be a certain age or size or height? DS is a big kid, and I'm not sure how much longer the bouncy seat is going to work, but it's the only place I can leave him!

Also, what should I look for in a jumperoo or exersaucer? We don't have one yet, and I want to keep an eye out.

You might want to see if he likes/dislikes one or the other at daycare. Our DCP told us Miles loved the Jumperoo but was not into the saucer at all, which saved us from wasting money on the wrong thing!

I think he started on the jumperoo around 4mo but needed padding (blankets behind his back)... by 5 mo he was all good in there.

  • DS started playing in the exersaucer when he was about 3 months old.  I think as long as their feet can reach the bottom, you're good.

As for where... Babies R Us, Walmart, Target - the usual suspects.

  • Our daycare doesn't do stationary entertainers (or swings or bouncy seats). They have a free-range philosophy, I kid you not. It sure is fun to watch all of the babies climb all over each other though!

  • I was wondering about this too. I am getting anxious to buy one! I want to say I've seen a lot of people start using these around 3 months. I think if LO can hold there head up then you are good to go, but not 100% sure on that.

I will probably buy Gabe one of those Johnny Jump Ups that you can use on the door seal so I can take it with us from room to room. I probably won't get an exersaucer cause I don't think they sell them here. I'll just do a walker or something instead.

  • When they can hold their head up good on their own. DD was in it by 3 months, bouncing all aounrd. Her weight made her feet touch the floor so it was all good! So said to be having to say good bye to it real soon!

  • DD had really good head and neck control so we put her in the jumperoo at around 3 months.  She loves it and bounces like crazy in it
From miscarriages, a diagnosis of a bicornuate uterus, and fibroid removal surgery...It's been quite the journey but it was all well worth it. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Oh my... well, that's good too!

  • The exersaucer is awesome. I do not have a jumperoo. DD started using the exersaucer at 3.5 months when she could reach the bottom on the lowest level. She is now 7.5 months and I still use it on the highest level but she is treating it like a jumperoo now so I think she is growing out of it. I tried her in a jumperoo but was not loving it so i did not buy one. She is 28.5 inches right now. I think I will use the PNP to keep her in when I need to soon.
