Extended BFers - how often do you nurse?

And when do you nurse LO? I am debating on extending just because we have dairy/soy intolerance and ped is saying she should go on formula post weaning. I have frozen bm and think I could maybe give this for daytime feeding. We would need Neocate ($$) type formula. TIA!

DS nurses 3 or 4 times during the day and throughout the night (we bed share).

I work, and I just recently stopped pumping at work, so he doesn't drink any milk while I'm away (he won't drink cow's milk). He nurses when I get home - maybe for 10 minutes? Sometimes he'll nurse again around 7:00. Then he'll nurse to sleep. (we also co-sleep) He wakes up twice in the middle of the night and nurses, and then again first thing in the morning.

I think the closer you get to two, the less need they have for milk products. I still find nursing to be convenient and easy, so I wanted to continue past a year. I plan to nurse until he's two, and then I'll be more forceful about weaning.

Dd nurses when she wakes up and at bedtime. Lately, she has been adding a 3/4:00 nursing when I pick her up from school. She refuses to drink milk or even drink my pumped milk, so I am happy to keep nursing. Good luck!

DS nurses twice a day (once in morning and once before bed). Sometimes he may wake and want to nurse in the middle of the night. I stopped pumping at work when he was around 12 months.

DD nurses when she wakes up, before her nap, and before bed. If we're home during the day, she'll usually want to nurse mid-late afternoon.

First thing in the morning, then before bed. She never asks for it, but I think she'd be pissed if I didn't offer it to her at these times : )

I'd say we average about 5 times a day but usually at least 2 of those are "snacks" more than anything. I night weaned about a month ago and I think he's shifted those overnight sessions to daytime a bit.

Thanks for all the great answers! I feed on demand - all different amounts each day, but wasn't sure it it would become less often, but just longer. I want to extend because I love to do it, as well as it saves money, it's good for her, but at the same time I am getting tired of my dairy/soy free diet. It really limits me and I am so tired of the same boring foods. I think I just need to recharge and find some new recipes.

There is food sensitivity check in on Mondays on the AP baord for mama's who are restricting their diets for their los. Come over some time.

DD has a milk protein allergy and nurses 3-5 times per day on the weekends. Wake up, naps, and bed time. Week days she nurses when she wakes and goes to bed and I'm still pumping 3xs a day at work. She used to nurse right when I got home from work but dropped that feeding around 13mo.

FWIW I enjoy nursing much more now than I did when DD was younger.

I'm day weaning now because the pumping at work has been very stressful. My goal was to make it to a year with that and I have, but I don't want to keep doing that. If I'm home, nursing, she nurses three times during the day, around 9, 1 and 4. Those are the ones I'm hoping to phase out. I suspect she'll want to nurse when I pick her up from daycare around 5 when we cut out those bottles. She nurses at 7, overnight (we co-sleep) and then usually around 5am. Those I'm not changing.

Yup - us too. I think I am going to try and night wean in a month or two.

ditto. he picked it up a bit while he's been teething his molars. we were down to 2-3x a month ago. if it's a night I work (p/t 4 nights a week) then he will go to bed for DH fine without it.
