DS is chosing a REALLY bad time to change his schedule

He used to go to bed at 830 and wouldnt get up till 830.  Well lately he's been getting up at 730.  For the last two nights I've put him to bed at 9 instead.  One morning he slept till 8 but this morning was 730 again.  I, on the other hand, have been waking up more to pee at night (never woke up much when I was pg with DS) and when I get up to pee between 4 and 5 I have the hardest time falling back asleep and when I do finally fall back asleep DS is waking up.  I know some would say he's getting me ready for the baby but right now I would much rather as much sleep as I can get.  I'm cranky in the morning now/during the day and he's just wild and crazy and full of energy.

  • Wow, I could have wrote this post. Verbatim. Right down to the 'hard time getting back to sleep after the 4-5 wake up to pee'. The only thing I would change is DS to DD! It stinks!
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013! image

Must be a new 2 year old thing! We kept her up until 10 last night and the little stinker still woke up 7:30. I'm going to try the opposite tonight and put her to bed at 7:30... lol

You'll have to let me know if it works, I'm willing to try anything :)  I know he still needs his nap because he's napping for about 2 hours still.

No way is she forgoing a nap! She naps for 1.5-2 hours regularly and I will depend on naps when the new baby is here, I'm sure. It will be quite a while before I let her give those up, I would rather wake up earlier if my choice was between the two. I will let you know how tonight goes! But honestly, she seems to change day to day, week to week sometimes too. Like last week she slept in until 9 for 2 days is a row- it was amazing! So I'm hoping its just a little phase ::fingers crossed::

  • I have issues falling asleep to and having to get up to pee all the time.  My youngest DD likes to wake up any time between 4-7:30 for the day.  Its driving me crazy.  Don't these LO's know that we are about to have another baby and we need some rest?  DD is also deciding that now is a good time to get into everything when I can't move as quickly.
  • Have you tried putting him to bed earlier?  The later DD stays up, the earlier she wakes up in the morning.  Totally bizarre, but true.  4th of July she stayed up until 10pm and was up at 5am the next morning.  Ugh.

Yep, I've read that sleep begets sleep.  8:30 seems a little late for bedtime to me for a child of that age.  Try starting bedtime earlier; sounds counterintuitive but I hear it works.

  • funny that it's my DH's 5am pee that I have trouble getting back to sleep after :)

I'd say that 830 has been his bedtime for close to a year and he's been taking 2 hour naps and getting up at 830 or 9 for just as long.
