Indiana Babies

where did my sweet baby go? Advice???

Preslee has been an easy baby from day one! She had no trouble nursing, started sleeping through the night at 4 weeks, etc!

In the last week, she has been acting completely different. Throwing fits if you take something away from her. Screaming and throwing fits when I try to feed her baby food. Last night it took an hour to feed her and I ended up throwing most of her food away.

The worst part has been when I nurse her before bed. She acts like she is starving, practially pulling my shirt off! Then when I try to feed her, she nurses for 30 seconds then yanks backward (ouch) and flips, wiggles, kicks and acts completely difficult! This went on for an hour last night! It is really hard to maintain my patience when she is doing this! Then, like 20 minutes later, she nursed fine and fell asleep in my lap.

I work full time and live on a farm, so needless to say my one on one time with Preslee is limited and I have treasured our one on one time...right now, it is so difficult, I am sad!

I was just wondering if anyone else had experiences like this. I really hope that this is a short lived phase, because I am desperate for her to cooperate at this point.

  • Is she teething?

  • Evan does this when he is teething or when he is going through a growth spurt or when something in his schedule needs to be changed.

  • It sounds like teething to me too.  Andrew barely eats when he's teething.

My advice would be to not make it a fight!  If she's resisting, try again later!  She'll eat when she gets hungry enough :)

  • I think you guys are right...I am guessing we are about to get a new tooth! She has two teeth now and they came in really easy! She did nurse really well this morning so hopefully she is feeling a little better today!

Hopefully tonight I don't end up wearing most of her dinner again! Hahahaha!

  • Olivia goes through fiesty periods, but like PPs, they are usually a result of teething, crawling, needing more sleep, etc.  Good luck!
