Graco play yard/bassinet/changing table

I was thinking about using the Graco play yard/bassinet as our primary bassinet since we don't anticipate using it for long anyway (we want to get him in his own room in about 6 weeks after birth). Is anyone else doing the same?

Re: Graco play yard/bassinet/changing table

  • That's what we did with DS. A separate bassinet is not terribly useful, IMHO. MIL did buy us one, though, to use this time around. Otherwise we would've done the same.

  • Yes, we have the Graco Deco PnP, with the bassinet level and this is what we will be using for the first few weeks in our room instead of buying a separate bassinet.
  • We had planned on it, but someone gave us a bassinet. Since we have an apartment for the 1st 6 weeks, the bassinet is a better option since it's smaller. If you have the space, it's a very economical option! :)

We will be taking a week-long vacation at Christmas time so I'll use it then for everything... Very convenient!

  • Thats what we did and it worked out great.  DS slept in the P&P bassinet for the first 6 weeks and then moved into the crib in his own room.  It was nice to have the changing station right there, too.

  • We will be using a PNP for about 4-6 weeks before DS goes to crib.  IMO it's not worth the extra cash to use a bassinet when the PNP works just as well.
  • Yep. Thats what we just decided to do. I was thinking about getting a bassinet from a second hand store, just because they do take up less space, but we decided not to waste the money on something we will use for like a month. My sister said that the PnP is something we will really want to have anyway and that its all they used in their room and it worked really well.

  • Yep, we did this with DS and will use again with DD. We had DS in it in our room for about a month, but we may go longer with DD because we moved into a new house where our BR is on the 1st flor and hers is on the second. But it works great for us because since it will be in our room she can sleep in it during the day on the 1st floor even when she does move into her nursery and I can wheel it around the house too. I didn't see any need to get a regular bassinette in addition to that, unless someone were to give me one as a gift or something.

  • This is what we're doing also. We have the Graco Catalina pnp. It looks great!?

  • We chose to get a separate bassinet because of space issues in our bedroom.  We also ended up with 2 different pack n plays from our shower.  Both are Graco, Emelia and Betsey....but both are too big.

  • We have it and use it in our living room. ?It is so large that we can't push it to other rooms so measure your doorways. ?I like it and we have another basinet in our bedroom that is a lot smaller.
  • We have a "family" bassinet that with a little restoration from my MIL is going to be awesome.  We have the PnP and will be using it just for weekend trips for now.  The PnP is just so big and bulky.  I do have a girlfriend that is using it for everything right now because her husband won't move the crib downstairs......
