My 2 year old has started speaking....

Spanish.  The other week she started counting to 10 in Spanish (she's been counting to 10 in English for several months) and today on the way to school today she said 'Look mommy manos!' and held up her hands.  I thought maybe it was random coincidence so I asked where her zapatos were she lifted her feet and pointed to her shoes and repeated 'mi zapatos!' i was like oh my.  Rosetta Stone here I come.  the 5 years of Spanish I took in high school and college are not going to be near enough to keep up with her!

  • whoa! smart child!! When I was 4 years old- one day in the car I started speaking French to my mom (like sentences..) She looked at me amazed and couldn't understand where I had learned French. It turned out there was another Karen at my pre-k and she was supposed to be the one taking the french classes, but I had been all along! Keep encouraging her- they learn so quick at that age!!

  • Cool! Our nanny speaks only spanish to ds. He understands A LOT of spanish and speaks some as well. It's hilarious when he's trying to tell me something in spanish and I have no clue what he's saying. It's like playing charades to figure it out...me saying "Show mama what you mean" and him pointing and repeating in spanish.

  • Gifted for sure!  That is wonderful!  Maggie didn't really say anything until she was two!  However her big sis talked very early!
