This is EXACTLY what I was about to post.  (She's in the Little Mermaid, btw.)  Woe is the baby girl that has to explain that name in elementary school.

That's what my cousin named her DD.  Everleigh, nn Ever.  I'm on the fence about it.

  • Worst one, by far:  St. John.  Imagine the horror of the officiant at the baptism.

  • Do we know if babies were actually named these, or just that they were searched? (They are pretty bad, though).

The SSA lists the most popular baby names in the US, according to the Social Security cards that are registered for. They don't have 2010 yet, as they year is not done with, but 2009 names are here

  • Did Tenley come from the girl on The Bachelor??

I think that St. John is commonly pronounced like Sin-gin and is a traditional name in the UK.

  • I never even heard of the name Lux until that show Life Unexpected.
  • These all seem to be TV and movie names - Sookie, really?  Zip it!

I was thinking the same thing!  I had never even heard of that name before her.  I plan on naming my dog Bentley when we get one, so kind of funny to see on this list.

  • Sookie made me giggle. I love the Souther Vampire series, but not THAT much.

Lux makes me think of Kirstin Dunst's character in The Virgin Suicides.

  • WOW, some are cute but others are, well..... interesting to put it politely. Lux? Are they planning to have their baby be a superhero that fights alien crime on the planet Zephanon?

  • I don't know. I'm a big Supernatural fan and Misha Collins is pretty darn cute, so I could probably give consideration to Castiel. But I doubt DH would go for it.:-P

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that Sookie and Lorelai are just now making the list. Hasn't Gilmore Girls been off the air for a few years now?

  • I thought some of the girl names were heinous. . .and then I saw the boy names.  Blechh.  NMS.

Ever is actually very popular in the Hispanic community, I went to school with several Ever's. St. John is the one that gets me!!! For real?!
