How do you all go about finding sitters, or do you just not ever go out alone, or does family watch your LO?
My parents don't live here, so they're out. Joe's parents won't keep Mads overnight, and I find it ridiculous to drop her off and then wake her up at midnight, 10, 11, whatever and then have to put her back to bed at our house. We don't really know anyone else. How have you found your sitters?
Re: Sitter questions
DH's parents live close, and come to our house to watch DD if we need a sitter.
We also have a set of neighbors that we're close to who will come to our house and watch her for us.
Since she's in our house, it's not a huge deal for them to put her to sleep if she needs to go down before we get home.
Can your IL's come to your house to watch her?
As far as other ideas... do you have any friends with kids the same age who could watch her? Or can they recommend someone? I'd ask co-workers if they can recommend someone... Or I'd ask around church.
We've only had family watch Luke so far. I just found out that Luke's two teachers though are willing to baby sit on the evenings/weekends.
To piggy back on this question - what IS the going rate for a babysitter these days?

We pay about $5/hour to HS students.
Most of the time, we have our family members watch him. Both sets of parents fight over who watched him last and who gets to watch him next.
But, I have a few babysitters that I do know and trust very much. In addition to our nanny, who is always willing to babysit if she's available, I also work with 2 younger women that are usually willing to babysit if need be.
You're remembering correctly. I doubt that they would be willing to come over and watch her. They're willing to come and put her to bed for us if we're going to be home by 9 or so, but we're planning on being gone til around 12 or 1, so probably not. It stinks b/c we have a guest bedroom and everything. It's not like it's uncomfortable at our house.
