We felt really guilty about spending money on hurricane shutters since we're supposed to be saving for maternity leave, but now I'm glad we did! Hopefully, we get a nice discount check from the insurance company.

Our last home had shutters and it was amazing. Our new house doesn't have any and it has two floors so I'm really worried about any of these storms coming and how we are going to put up those panels..

You are nuts if you planned on going through hurricane season w/out any shutters! LOL
We actually got accordions, and we even use them when we go out of town for security purpose (only the back as to not call too much attention to the house).

LOL, well, we were going put something. But, I told DH he was on his own if we went with panels. We got an estimate and it was cheaper but it would've been 71 pieces!!! My parents used to have those and it was such a mission to keep them and install them in the correct order. They were also very heavy. We went with accordions b/c it's something I could help with and even deal with by myself. We also like the idea of added security when we're OOT, like you mentioned.
Before we left this time, I was actually the one that closed them up... and yes, it took all of 10 min (not entire house). Like Hale said, they are the bomb. : )
