Has anybody ever used the gerber tubs to freeze homemade baby food? I was thinking of doing this but was not sure if the food would get freezer burn or something like that.
I would be iffy about doing it. Do they have tight fitting lids on them? I would definitely boil them before reusing them to avoid any remaining bacteria.
If you really want to try it, make a small batch and see if anything gets freezer burn on it. That's the only way to know for sure.
I do the ice cube method. It's a good method in case you don't want to buy a whole bunch of stuff for it.
The more I think about it - I think I will do the icecube method. That way I can quickly measure out how much he eats. Each cube is about 1oz right? Do you have a particular one you like?
Are the Gerber tubs glass?? If so, I don't think you are supposed to use those. I think wholesomebabyfood.com even has a section about that. Yeah, I'm trying to find ice cube trays with lids that are 1oz cubes. The OXO brand ones look like they might be less than an oz. I've been using plastic wrap but would prefer lids.
i make my own and use the ice cube trays. After the food freezes i pop it out and stick the frozen cubes in a baggie in the freezer. this way you can label the baggie so you know what and how old it is. You also dont need as many ice cube trays then.
