For all the ladies that love to indulge in a diet drink of some kind, what are you drinking now? What did your doctor say about the artificial sweetener? I love diet drinks of all kinds and I am struggling finding things that I like to drink that don't have a lot of calories or don't have any artificial sweetener. What are you ladies drinking (besides water)?
Re: All Diet (Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper) Drinkers Come In
Just water. :::sigh:::
I miss my Diet Pepsi very, very much.
When I want the taste of it, I'll have a sprite or something.
That sounds good, I am going to have to give those a try!
I have a splash of diet coke in the morning. A mini regular can of reg pepsi in the morning and then 7up in the evening. But yesterday I swapped out my lunch drink for water yesterday and this morning I did milk instead. I think my body is weaning itself off of the pop. Using the mini cans helped alot bc they were only 25 mg of caffeine and you are suppose to stay under 200/day
I have one diet coke a day. My doctor's office said it was fine. They said they don't tell patients to cut artificial sweeteners out of their diet just to cut back. I was really addicted to Sobe LifeWaters, but have read that not enough research has been done on Stevia extract so I'm cutting it out completely. One of my friends will inherit my stockpile.

I'm such a Diet Dr Pepper addict... but I know the artificial sweeteners are bad in general, and I've read that caffeine can raise cortisol levels (the stress hormone), and higher cortisol levels in pregnancy apparently leads to crankier, fussier babies. So... I've found I like Canada Dry Club Soda quite a bit, and I've been drinking pretty much just that and nothing else for the last week.
I make my own pink lemonade every few weeks, also using the club soda so it's fizzy, and I'm looking forward to doing that again soon to mix things up.
I don't drink a lot of pop but when I do it's diet Coke. I'm not avoiding it in pregnancy, but I am mindful of it. I am not concerned about asparatame (it's no worse for your baby than it is for you), but the caffeine. I drink a cup of coffee everyday, so I have to watch it. The artificial sweetener you should be concerned about in pregnancy is saccharin and stevia is not good either.
Here is some info I found: "According to the Food and Drug Administration(FDA), Aspartame is safe for use during pregnancy and lactation. It is recommended to limit consumption to a moderate level."
"But studies do show that saccharin crosses the placenta and may remain in fetal tissue, so its use for pregnant women still remains in question."
"The safety of Stevia is unknown when used as a sweetener by pregnant or lactating women."

I am a HUGE Diet Coke fan (think like, 5-6 cans/day). I've been getting caffiene headaches because of how much I used to drink. I have been drinking half a can to a can per day. I know it's a waste to only drink half of a can, but I need something to take the edge off without feeling guilty!
Just water with lemon or unsweet, decaf iced tea.
Last pregnancy, I had a hard time transitioning from Diet Coke. Water made me gag. I started drinking ginger ale, Sprite and lots and lots of Izze. I put on a ton of weight in the first trimester because of this. I saw my beloved grapefruit Izze at the store the other day and had to put it back. Maybe later on.
ETA: I will probably have a Diet Coke here or there after the first trimester.
I have a pantry full of Vitamin Water Zero that I can't drink because of the Stevia. I was so bummed - I thought it would be the solution this pregnancy.
