Which formula do you use?

I have been ebfing so far, but recently had to start giving formula bottles when we are out, because I don't have a freezer stash anymore due to a stomach bug and diet changes. Sam seems to do fine with the enfamil premium lipil (which we got at the hospital and just now opened), but I got some Similac advance in the mail, and was wondering what the difference is.

Which formula do you use? I think after I finish the can of enfamil I may try the similac to see how she does with it. I am still nursing most of the time, and am trying to make it to 6 months, but figured this would be a good trial and error time so that when I do wean her soon, it won't upset her tummy too much. :)

TIA!

Re: Which formula do you use?

  • We started out with Enfamil Premium, then had to change to the A.R. due to reflux issues (at this point we started using the Up and Up brand from Target), now those seem to be resolved so we went back to the Up and Up brand that is equivalent to the Enfamil Premium.

  • We started with the Enfamil Premium (we got it free in the mail) then quickly had to move to Enfamil Gentilease because the Premium upset her stomach.  Recently we switched to the Similac Sensitive (the one in the orange can) simply because they sell it for a better deal than Enfamil at Costco.
  • Be careful switching formulas, though.  We had to switch formulas 3 times and every switch would upset James' tummy (he does have a sensitive stomach).  Gentlease was the best as far as his stomach issues go, but we are having to use Similac Sensitve RS for his reflux now.  But when he was on Gentlease, we also used the Target brand and it was great!  If you use one of the big name formulas, make sure you sign up for whatever programs are on their websites (and your family members, too!). We get 5.00 formula checks quite often...using those and sales bring the price down to close to store brand (just takes some planning!).  Congrats on BFing for so long!  I'm jealous!
