Babies: 9 - 12 Months

More dumb after baby?

Big Smile Anyone ever feel less smart after having your baby? I swear, before DS I was a manager for a retail store running a multi-million dollar department. I made all these fast, smart decisions.

After DS, I stepped down and now work part-time for another retailer. I think they were all excited because of all my previous experience as a manager and all my training skills, etc.

But now I feel like I can't make a decision for the like of me! And that I forget stuff a lot more and my brain is a lot slower.

 Anyone else?

  • Completely! I can think in a mili-second when he comes to the baby having the..."I might choke on this piece of banana" face. But if it comes to anything requiring that other side of my brain, it's too late, it's all turned to mush

  • YES! Anything related to DS, I am quick with! Just everything not involving him!
  • Oh yeah!  I definetly dumber since Harmon.  I think it is b/c I don't have time to let my brain rest being so busy these days.

  • I agree that it definitely has to do with the constant lack of sleep.?

  • Where I live, we call it the Mom-Dumbs. It's the norm I'd say.

I just find that DS is all I think about.

  • Someone told me that studies have shown that your IQ actually goes down a few points after giving birth.  I have no idea if it's true or not.

  • I don't remember where I just heard it (Dr. OZ on Oprah maybe?) but the study did show that the fetus sucks all the omega3 fatty acids from you that help with memory. They said that if you take more omega3's it can help with the "mommy brain syndrome". I found it very interesting. I have also found that after my second child, the "mommy brain" got worse! YIKES! Fish, here I come...I need my brain back! LolStick out tongue
  • I am always saying DD fed off my brain while she was in the womb.  I am scared to have another one!  I didn't have much to start with Wink

  • Absolutely, I find that I have a harder time focusing. I attribute it to the fact that part of my brain is always with him
