Tips on Lap Gas Pain?

I have a lot of pain right now in my shoulders/diaphragm from the gas used during my lap. Anyone know how to relieve this? I tried walking around and not laying down - no dice.

Sorry you're in so much pain!  Only things that helped me were watching what I ate and walking.  (Yeah, I'm no help.)  My walking was more of a hunched over sock scoot, but doing it every hour or two eventually brought relief.

  • Ugh, I know that painful feeling well. I'm sorry you're going through it. The walking around never worked for me either! Time was the only thing that cured it, I'm afraid. I hope you feel better soon!

  • I thought I was going to DIE with mine! When I would try to lay down it would shoot down towards my lungs to where I couldn't catch my breath. Ugghhh it was terrible.

I took gas pills but they really didn't help much. Hope it goes away soon. I feel for ya!

  • Oh, that was the worst part of my whole surgery. I'm sad to say that not much helped, I just kept current on my pain meds and would lay flat. Time was really the only thing that healed it. Hope you get to feeling better!

  • Heating pad helped me a bit.  Sometimes laying flat felt better, sometimes sitting.  Anyway hopefully it doesn't stick around too long!

I had the gas pains for several days.  However, the pain meds made me constipated.  It took some ex-lax (I tried several other things before going to ex-lax) and it got things moving again.  That really helped the gas pains finally go away.  I waited to take anything until the night after my surgery.  I really wish I had taken it earlier.

I hope the gas pain goes away soon!

  • I didn't have this issue, but from what I've heard it's best to lay completely flat so that the gasses will evenly distribute throughout the body and not cause as much shoulder pains.  It should go away in a day or so though.  Hope it gets better for you soon!
