Those of you that delivered at Memorial Herman Woodlands

I was reading about the hospital since that is where I will deliver #3. I want to say I read that you stay in the same room from labor to discharge, is this correct? Anything else I should know about the hospital?

  • This is correct.  I arrived on a Thursday not knowing if I was in labor and was put in a room.  I did not leave this room until I was discharged on Monday.

The only complaint about the room is that the bed was so uncomfortable because its designed to be able to be in a million different positions (for labor/delivery).  It was like one of the joints was right in the middle of my back and no matter how i adjusted the position, it was always jabbing me.

Apparantly there is a little snack bar that you/DH can get snacks from ("free").  We learned this the last day.  Ask your nurse about it.

  • You should know that they have only one anesthesiologist working there on the weekends.  So if you go into labor spontaneously on a Saturday, there's a good chance you'll have to wait for an epidural once you get to the hospital.  (this is assuming you might be interested in getting an epidural.)

I delivered so fast that I didn't get one at all.  I was glad about it later, but not so much while I was laboring! Stick out tongue

  • yep, all in the same room. Even with a last minute c-section, I was wheeled to the OR on the same floor and then back to my same room a while later. Nice, spacious rooms in my opinion, lots of waiting area space for family if needed. We had a very good experience there. I do agree with the beds not being terribly comfy though.
  • If you have time do the hospital tour.  It was very informative!  They tell you about the nourishment areas (the snacks for you and your H) and also other things about the hospital.  I just delivered there two and half weeks ago.  Everything is done in your room.  And your baby never has to leave you either!  The bed did suck.  I just wanted to raise my feet more and though that bed could go into a million different settings, I couldn't get comfortable.  Though I was only there for two nights (thank goodness!)

I went into labor on a Saturday.  Arrived at 6:20am and had an epidural before 7:30.  Getting drugs (if you want them) will depend on how busy they are.  I was a 5 when I arrived and that little angel in blue was my best friend when he left! :) Though the nurse was in such a hurry to get my IV started, she blew my first one in my left hand (still have the bruise on it) but was able to get it on the right. Which

    sucked

This is the same at Women's hospital too.
