birth announcement question

We just got Mason's newborn pictures from our photographer and I need to choose a few to use for birth announcements and determine how many to order. My question is- should we send an announcement to everyone that got us a gift? Some are friends of friends or MIL's friends. I have already sent them a thank you card but for some reason feel obligated to send them an announcement as well...just because they were so thoughtful and were really thinking of Mason, you know? What do you ladies think? :)

    I struggled with the SAME issue.  (I also didn't want it to seem like there was any expectation of another gift or something). 

    I ended up sending them to everyone that attended the shower that SILs put on for me - some people that came to that were people I was meeting for the first time (ODD!) since I live out of state, but I figured they would want to know the birth details and who doesn't like some newborn cuteness in the mail ?!  I definitely got positive feedback so I would say go for it.

    I designed and printed my own announcements to save money and I had a digital version of it on my computer too. So I only sent paper announcements to about 25 close family and friends, especially those who were older and not super computer savvy (or didn't have/use e-mail)--definitely those who sent us a gift as well. Then for the rest, especially other friends/younger ppl, we sent them digital announcements.

    hmmmm i think if you have extra, go ahead and send them but if not then it's no big deal.

    I didn't.  Since I had gotten gifts from co-workers, etc. before she arrived I just wrote thank you notes as the gifts came in...the announcements went to friends and family...basically our wedding list with a few others added.

    Thanks ladies!! I'll look again at the difference in price and see if we should spend the extra $.
