Hypnobabies questions...

Hi everyone, I'm due 3-17-11 (6 weeks tomorrow!), and I already am fairly certain I want to use Hypnobabies. My good friend used the Mongan Method of Hypnobirthing, but she had it taught to her in a class, and unfortunately, there are no classes where I live!

Anyway, how early should I start Hypnobabies? For those who have been through a Hypnobabies birth already, do you really feel it helped? Can you describe your experience (or point me to your birth story somewhere)?

Thanks!!!

  • I also completed the Hypnobabies home study program.  I think I started at about 28 weeks.  I liked giving myself the time (as PP mentioned) to repeat some weeks, especially if there were days where I was unable to do the scripts.  I am now in the maintenance stage until LO decides she's ready to make her appearance!  I have absolutely loved it, and I am more excited and confident than ever going into birth.

One of my close friends just had her son last night using Hypnobabies, and she had an amazing, positive, fast, nearly painless story to share.  I am only further encouraged.  :)

  • I think I was right at 30 weeks when I started, which is a little early so I took more than a week for each lesson. And FWIW I did get a little burnt out and wasnt as faithful at keeping up with it daily at the end (especially since I went to 41 weeks 5 days). So I wouldnt start it until a little later like 34 weeks.

I think that it definitely helped. I really had no pain through my whole labor, pressure: yes, and I was uncomfortable at times but never really pain. I should say that I did end up with a Csection but I labored at home till I got to 10cm and then I pushed for 6 hours after that all with just my hypnobabies. And I got him so low that I could see him and feel him but he was huge and face up and I just was too tired to get him all the way out.

I will be using hypnobabies for any future children and I would absolutly recomend it to anyone because I am normally the biggest whimp ever, but I wasnt during labor.

  • I had an easy, painless HypnoBabies birth. My baby was over 8 lbs and I really did not feel pain. I am not tough by any means, I credit the class completely! I started at 30 weeks and felt that was more than enough time.
