I have to choose, very soon here, whether to begin my leave at 36 weeks or to delay it to 38 weeks. I was wondering when your leave started/starts, and whether or not you would have moved it earlier or later if you had the chance?
My c-section is scheduled for Wednesday so dh and I are starting our leave on that Monday. If it wasn't scheduled, I wouldn't have started it until I went into labor. I want to save my PTO time for when the baby is actually here.

I'm not starting mine until the last possible minute. I only work about 5 minutes from the hospital, so I'm not worried about going into labor while I'm at work.
My maternity leave starts this Monday, which puts me at 39 weeks. I would have loved to work up until my due date, but as a food server I didn't think that was a wise decision.
I worked until my water broke (at the office), about 1.5 weeks before my EDD. Had I not gone into labor 'early,' I would have stopped working the Friday before my Sunday EDD, as my OB planned to induce the following Tues or Wed.
Oh! I guess I should also explain that the decision doesn't impact the after birth time I will get with the little one, it will only mean a 50% paycut for the two additional weeks of leave upfront. We have a bit of savings to cover it. Also, I work in a high stress, long hours-type field and I'm starting to feel very very tired at the end of even an 8 hour day. My concern is that I'll be bored at home, and will have taken the paycut when it wasn't really needed.
I can start my leave (and still get paid 100%) 1 week prior to my due date. My leave starts 9/3 and I cannot wait. I like being at work b/c I would be bored otherwise but sitting at my desk all day and trying to keep my feet elevated is starting to become very uncomfortable!
My due date is a Monday and I plan on working until the Friday before. I am hoping to work half days the week or two before.
If the time off before didn't effect my time off after and the 50% pay cut wouldn't hurt the budget too much, I would definitely take leave around 38 weeks. I think 36 weeks would leave me with too much time on my hands and I would get stir crazy waiting for the baby.
My EDD is 10/2. I'm currently scheduled to work until 9/25. I may work longer depending on how I'm feeling. My boss told me I better not go into labor at work. Luckily my work is pretty flexible and I don't have to give them a set date, just an estimate.

With DS I worked until I went into labor and plan to do so again with DD. It was nice to spend my entire leave with DS and I felt good up until the end - hopefully I'll feel the same this time.
I worked (over) full time until 36 weeks, and then worked one more additional week from home. I wouldn't have changed a thing, even though here I am at nearly 39 weeks, waiting.
I'm working until 2 days past my due date, unless I deliver before. I get 12 weeks, and I ideally don't want to spend any of it home, waiting for a baby and twiddling my thumbs.
Mine doesn't start until the day I have the baby. I have about three weeks of vacation time stored up that I'm saving towards the end of the prengnacy so I can take off when I want.
I'm starting my leave on Monday if I don't go into labor before then. It's SO nice to know I only have 3 days left (counting today).
I wouldn't have made it any earlier than this, even though I wanted to. I just want as much time as possible with my baby, but I do feel like I need to start just a little early because sitting at a desk all day is starting to take it's toll on me. Plus, it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to focus anyway.
I plan to work until my due date or the baby comes, whichever is first.
If I could take extra leave up front and still get as much maternity leave after I deliver, I think I'd stop working at 39 weeks. I'm 38.5 weeks right now, and I still feel pretty good.
I didn't anticipate or want it but my doctor has already pulled me from work and until I have the baby, I am on pregnancy disability. I was admitted to the hospital last week for contractions. They were 5 min. apart. They got them to slow but not fully stop ( I know some are normal and ok). My job was too physical and causing me too much stress. Faced with possible pre-term labor.
After the baby is born I will be on STD, then paid family leave, then I have vacation time saved up and then I am planning on taking unpaid time. I hope to be home with my LO for 4-5 months after birth.

I worked until my water broke (@41 wks) with my first. I think it would be a waste of time & no paycheck to take maternity leave any earlier than you absolutely have to. Wouldn't you rather spend as much time with your baby than sitting at home while the baby is still in your tummy?
Geez do I ever feel bad for you Americans. Here in Canada we get a year of maternity/paternity leave. I work as a nurse 14 hour shifts so I am taking 2 weeks of vacation and 3 weeks of maternity leave (so last day is at 35 weeks). I am very grateful for the time off as shiftwork is making me feel very cranky these days. GL to everyone.

I'm working until the day before the EDD. Luckily, I have the option to work from home. That has helped, as I've been pretty exhausted this week and the job has been demanding. At least the days go by quickly.

This is tricky stuff!
