I'll consider doing them too, I think you might be able to get a deal with a photography company to have maternity and newborn photos done. I'll have to scan around and see what I can find

We will do them. I'm also hoping to do some with my SIL when we go to Japan. She's due in Jan so we could do maternity photos together... totally cheesy and awesome lol
I did them with #1 and plan on doing them with #2, as well. They are fun! I found a professional photographer who wanted to build her portfolio so I got a good deal on them. She actually gave us the maternity session, newborn session, digital negatives and printing rights for like $250 I think.

I had DH take some of my other pregnancies. We put up a dark sheet in the living room. Plus some of them have me with just a sheet on....showing just my belly and legs....I wouldn't have been comfortable with a stranger taking those. Plus...it was FREE! Except the cost of printing.
I think so, but we'll have them taken by a budding photographer friend of ours. She'll probably do them cheap if not free. And I'm definitely not doing bare belly - mine has too many obesity battle scars.

I will do them, there is a really good lady here in OKC she takes the most amazing photos and she does a package of baby bumps and newborns. I don't like the ones where the hubby is kissing the belly or the full nude ones so I'll figure out something cute and classy.
Not sure. I think it will depend on the cost in my area. However, I do enjoying seeing other people's maternity photos, so maybe I'll end up caving in when I actually get a little bump
Nah. But we didn't do engagement photos either. We went all-out budget-wise on our wedding photographer. I'll probably wait and spend the money on an infant shoot.
Yes, but my best friend is a professional photographer so I have to. haha! I cannot wait to work with her on ours, she's been one of my biggest cheerleaders in our struggle to TTC.
I did with my first (picture to left is one of them), but I didn't with my second and wont with my third.
I LOVED having them done though. I love the memories. It's like wedding photos, soon enough it will be just a memory. Pregnancy is not something we get to do over and over and over and over again (unless you're an aspiring Duggar family )
The reason for not doing them is that I don't like the changes my body had made after having a first, I'm a little less comfortable getting down to my undies again and financially, we don't have the extra to splurge now (I got a lawsuit settlement check the summer I was pregnant w/#1 so it was a pretty much free for all that summer)
I paid close to $1000 for mine and a newborn series (www.peanutphotography.com in Las Vegas, NV)... and FWIW the quality of what we got justifies the price and we still feel this way the more and more I look at other photographers portfolios and prices.
I've got a friend who's a photography enthusiast, but not considered professional, it's just a hobby. I'll probably have her do my maternity photos and then hire a professional photographer for newborn pictures.

Definitely more pricey in the metro area That's why i asked.
Check out Sofia Negron 215-327-8482 She just moved back to NY from the Philadelphia area. She is a sweetheart and does AMAZING work.
If you go to "Hip Mamas" https://sofianegron.com/kids/ on her kids site - the 3rd one is actually a self portrait she did of herself a few years back.
Other amazing NYC based photographers (not sure of all their prices)
Susan Stripling and Laura Bruen
Outside of the NYC area - but I know they work up there -
Alison Conklin (she'll be doing mine!!), Alyssa Andrew-Swift, Laura Eaton, Joy Moody, and Nicole Polk.
I know for a fact Nicole is VERY pricey. Alison did my wedding, so we know for sure we're going to have her do the baby pictures and most likey the belly pictures. Joy is a blast and her maternity photos are all done as fine art with film. It is truly stunning. I like Alyssa and Laura's work, but have not worked with either of them. Although, I have met Laura quite a few times, and she is a new mom herself which I think helps a ton when it comes to maternity photos.
I didn't do them last time and now I kind of regret it! So, I think I will do them this time around. Lucky for me, my friend and I have our own photography business...so they will only cost me what I print! Yay!
i don't want them. my bf's sister is starting up a photography business and already mentioned something to me about doing them but i already told her i'd pass. sometimes i like other people's especially the black and white ones, but i've never seen any great enough to where i was like i HAVE to get these done.
I think the main thing we will use them for is a book of the baby's first year.
We have had a few shoots of the two of us done in the past year, so we wil start the book with that, have a page or two of belly, and then new born, and then 1 year old pictures.
I will do them...partially bc my MIL is a photgraher and I don't think she will "not" let me do them, but also bc they can be so beautiful. Photoshop is amazing.
We definitely did them with our first child and loved them, so I would imagine we'll do them again! If nothing else, we should all have nice little bumps around Christmas time, and you have to admit, that'd make a great Christmas card To help offset costs a lot of semi-professional photographers offer packages for the first year of infancy, and some of them include a maternity sitting!
For the ladies who have already did some with your other children-- when did you do them and how often? Where I'm from the fee is only $20 per shoot and like $15 for each CD and copyright...Did you do them every couple months, every month, etc??
My husband has a part time job owning his own photo business, so I will definitely do them. He also has it setup so that he can take the picture and be in the picture so I don't have to worry about that.
I'm planning on doing them. I have this one photographer in mind in our area who charges $300 to do maternity photos and then return and shoot newborn pictures during the first week or two that the baby's home. Not a bad deal. Her photographs are beautiful, too.
I'm a sucker for photography. I'd take my camera everywhere with me if I didn't look like such a weirdo taking pictures of just about everything.

I definitely want to have them done, but I won't pay a pro photog to do them.
Re: Poll: Maternity photos?
i'm not really interested yet. i guess it depends on how cute my bump is
We will do them. I'm also hoping to do some with my SIL when we go to Japan. She's due in Jan so we could do maternity photos together... totally cheesy and awesome lol

Expect between $3-500 to start. And yes - consider booking a deal with combining belly and baby!
Are you in NYC or NYS?
