I don't have a newborn, but i remember being stuck in doors .He was a newborn in the winter. I understand not knowing what to do in the heat also. If you wanted to go for a walk, babiesrus has a baby fan that you can buy and clip on the stroller and that should help. Just so you can go for a walk at least.
My son will be 6 weeks on Sunday. We haven't done much of anything because of the heat. It's just too hot with the heat index to take him out for walks or anything. I feel stuck in the house, but we do go on shopping trips and out to lunch with my friends. Plus we have a ton of visitors, so that's kind of taken up our time. I'm hoping that we get a cool spell so we can go for walks in the evening. DS loves the outside!
If it's a day when we're inside all day, I'll at least move locations around the house. Morning tummy time and nap in living room, midmorning in basement, afternoon in playroom, etc. to help with the cooped up feeling. I've also put them in bouncies just inside the sliding screen door where I can hear and see them while I go outside to weed the flower beds and such.
I highly recommend the stroller fan! We got ours from One Step Ahead & that thing is AWESOME.
I guess it's different w/ us because we are on the go all the time because of our 2 1/2 year old, so Max has been to lots of places already. However, if it's super hot, obviously, we don't go (or have someone watch him). Whenever the zoo has later events, we like to go to those because it's usually cooler.
I have a 6 week old. I get bored inside too. I try to take walks in the morning, but that doesn't always work out that way. I go to visit my mom a couple times a week, but I am starting to get a little tired of that. We have gone to the mall a lot (it depresses me that I can't buy anything because I am still in between sizes) I would love to go to the gym, but she is too little for the childcare center. She also is too little for the pool since she can't wear sunscreen and they don't even sell swimming diapers in her size) I have the clipon fan for the carrier, but my baby still gets sweaty. I have also gone into the office a couple times, just to get out of the house. (and I am on Maternity leave for another month!) Basically we read books inside, watch tv, and when its cooler in the evening we will take a walk or rock on the swing outside. Let me know if there are any mommy and me things to do out there!

I go to the malls too-Great Lakes Crossing, Somerset, Partridge Creek. I can't stay in the house, so we get out a lot.
We go visiting too. I've met my DH for lunch. I'll go to my mom's house.
Next year I am getting an annual zoo membership.
