swaddling ?

What is the secret to swaddling? C is a little escape artist and can get his little arms out of anything! He also gets really frustrated when he can't get his arms free, but if they are out he flails them around and keeps himself up. So what is the trick to keeping them all wrapped up?

Re: swaddling ?

  • Try the Halo Sleepsack with Swaddle.  It uses velcro.  Or the Miracle Blanket.  Also, wrapping tighter.  We stopped swaddling G's arms b/c I thought he liked them out better, but same thing - they just have no control.  He slept so much better with them down

  • We started out with the Halo Sleepsack and it worked well.  When she grew out of it, we bought the Summer Infant Swaddleme and loved it so much better.  It was softer and I liked the way it velcroed better.  Seemed to keep her contained a little better too because she was always working her arms out of the swaddles.

Ditto. SwaddleMe's were a God send.

    love the swaddleme

  • Swaddleme peeps here too!
  • I used swaddleme, the miracle blanket and thought about getting a woombie when he was breaking out.  But that is when we just stopped swaddling (about 6 months).
  • I think my kid is the only one that hated being swaddled...We swaddled her for maybe a total of 5 days before we realized she slept better without it lol
  • We had a woombie which was awesome but it was NB size and he doesn't fit in it anymore.  Now we use a swaddleme which works alright but sometimes he still gets a hand free.  He sleeps so much better swaddled, though.
  • I put a receiving blanket the short end on top and longer edge on side.  Lay baby down and fold it first like a hot dog.  Then pull up the extra on the bottom and tuck under baby.  Ava doesn't like to be swaddled, but it keeps her sleeping soundly for about 5 1/2 hours at night.
  • I've been using the Aden and Anais muslin swaddling blankets and I LOVE them. They are bigger that regular receiving blankets which helps me get her swaddled tightly. I fold one corner in and lay her shoulders on the folded edge. Put her arms at her sides then Take the right side and wrap it around her. Take the bottom and push her legs up like a frog then twist the blanket to keep them bent, tuck the blanket behind her and then take the left side and wrap it around the outside so the loose end is under her when she's on her back
