As of next year they will not be allowed to be sold at retailers in the US. Not sure how this works for secondhand ones though.

Ugh, so now I have to get rid of the crib that I've used through 2 babies and buy a new one for my last baby? Annoying, but obviously safety first.

Me too, but I found a Bassett Baby crib that I can reach into easily and is a stationary side. Both kids have the same one. DD's is a toddler bed now, soon to be a full size.

We have a Davinci Kalani. I'm only 5'2 but I haven't had any issues at all.

Hmm. I'm going to have to look into that for #2, but I think I'm just going to buy DS a toddler bed for when we move. I was going to hold off on it, but this is ridiculous, and we can't afford a brand new crib right now.

We don't have a drop side crib, but I do wonder how the heck I'm going to place and not throw DS down there once my belly gets in the way.... Haven't figured that one out yet...

We have a drop side crib made by Stanley and I have no intention of getting rid of it unless it is recalled. It seems so well made. All the hardware in it is metal and not plastic. Instead of eliminating all, why not just mandate a higher standard when it comes to quality!

I have a drop side by Bellini. It was a gift (used) and I have no intention of replacing it for baby #2 if/when that happens unless it's too big for the space (since we would need to move in order to house a second child) or if it actually gets recalled.

i don't have a drop side so i don't pay too much attention to them...but aren't the instances when there have been injury/death in them it's because they were not assembled correctly?? or have kids been hurt in "perfectly" assembled drop side cribs?

It is my understanding that in at least some of the cases of injury, the drop-side of the crib was installed upside-down. That is a user error.

FWIW, we have a second-hand drop-side crib for the LO we are expecting. It has not (as of yet) been recalled. However, DH does plan on modifying it so the drop-side doesn't work (i.e. so it's a fixed-side crib).

DD's crib is not drop side and she's on the lowest setting. I'm only 5'2", I'm 37 wks pg and I have no trouble laying her down in her crib at bedtime. We read a story in the glider, I carry her into her room and lay her down, no problem!!

I'm just a liiiiiiiiiittle short of 5'0" and our drop side was a life saver, when S actually slept in a crib. I fell into the stationary side crib at my IL's trying to get her in. That can't really be safe, either.

I'm just not doing a crib this time. We'll do Arm's Reach/Co-sleep/Bed share until L is ready to transition. Then she'll either do a regular bed or Montessori bed, depending on her age. I'm over trying to figure out this crib thing.
