? for EP'ers who work full time...

I just started back to work full time and while on leave, I would pump a total of 8 times in a 24 hour period. Now that I'm back to work, I'm curious if I should keep that up or if it's ok to cut back to 7 or less. My LC had said that I can cut back to 4 a day...once before work, once at work, once when i get home from work and once when i go to bed. I am afraid of what that will do to my supply. While on maternity leave, I was averaging pumping about 40 ounces a day. Can anyone tell me what they do now that they are back to work? What's your pumping schedule? How many times a day? Has your supply been affected?

 TIA!!!

  • I EP'd for five months.  When I went back to work, I pumped four times a day just at work alone (plus three times at home), and my supply pretty much dried up, and I never, ever got 40 ounces even before my maternity leave was up. I would suspect that pumping only four times a day may cause your supply to tank.  I mean, you can try it, but it's a risk.

  • I am still eping for my 6.5 month old. I am now down to 3 pumings a day, and getting about 24 oz. I am in he weaning process which is why I only pump 3 times. When I started back to work I was pumping 5 times a day and was getting about 45 oz. I was still getting over 40oz when I went to 4 times a day. My supply only started to drop when I went to 3 times a day. But everyone is different and you can't always count on that happening for you.

  • I don't work full-time, but I have successfully dropped the number of pumpings per day down to 4-5 from 8-10. I average 50-60 oz a day and get anywhere from 8-17 oz per session. If I had been unable to do this, I don't know how I'd have been able to keep pumping for my twins. I also take brewer's yeast tablets and fenugreek everyday to keep my supply up. So far it shows no sign of decreasing!
  • I try to pump every 6 hours, I've gone to 7 even.  My supply went up when I went back to work.  I only pump at lunch at work.  I still get up in the middle of the night to pump.  I've tried going longer and I developed mastitis twice.  I typically pump about 50 oz a day which is double his intake.
