Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Poly vi sol vs. Tri vi sol

Does anyone know the difference between the two vitamins? I heard somewhere that one is for babies under 1 year and the other is for babies over 1 year but i'm not sure which. Please help! What kind of vitamin do you give your baby?

Re: Poly vi sol vs. Tri vi sol

  • Our pedi has us giving DS Tri Vi Sol. But I don't know what the difference is.

  • Poly is like a multi vitamin; the tri is just 3 vitamins. I have seen a lot of people post their child hates the taste of the poly but loves the tri. I got the tri bc with bf, all dd really needs is vitD (and in the summer not even that).

  • At this age your LO only really needs the vitamin D in it so the poly vi sol is good.  If you find just vitamin D you can use that instead of either that you mention.

  • Our pedi said either is fine. But DS HATES the poly vi sol...he even knows when I mix it in with a bottle and wont take it. So we will be trying the tri vi sol and Im really hoping that it doesnt taste so bad for him
  • Our pedi told us to use Di vi sol which is just vitamin D or tri vi sol which is vitamins A, C and D.  We're using the tri and DD takes it really well.
  • We tried the Poly Vi Sol with DS and he HATED it!!!  Everytime we gave it he would gag and puke...not spit up but puke chunks.  I talked to my pedi and she told me about Enfamil Di Vi Sol...it smells and tastes so much better and we have had no problems thus far.  I just mix it in a pumped bottle once a day!!
  • you can also just get vit D drops. i have carlson baby d drops. you just use one drop on your nipple or in a bottle and thats it. my lo hated all the vi-sol and you had to use so much, so this was a great alternative.
