Postpartum Depression

insomnia?

I hope its ok for a toddler mama to post here! Does anyone suffer insomnia? I've never been a great sleep and my girls unfortunately take after me. When they were infants, I could never sleep between feedings and would be up all night for days. Even now that they sleep better (sometimes), I have nights where I lie awake all night. I've tried a few sleep meds and they made me feel sick, not sleepy (ambien, lunesta, advil pm). I take klonopin on occasion...not sure if I feel a difference. Any other solutions? Thanks!

I'm dealing with PPA insomnia right now... i'm trying resteril, it's a drug. Not sure how it compares to ambien and lunesta, but it definitely helps me to fall asleep, and I can still wake up in the middle of the night for LO.... I still can't take naps during the day while my LO sleeps though, so I'm still behind on sleep =)

  • I suffered from insomnia for years before becoming a Mom. I tried SO many different meds, but none really worked.

The best thing I ever did for myself was see a Psychologist. I decided I needed to get to the root of why I couldn't sleep. It only took 4 sessions and I started sleeping again.

For me, it's very important not to be negative or have any "deep" discussions in the hour or two before I go to bed.

Now, on nights when it's hard to sleep, all I need is some "Nighty-Night" tea and I'm off to dream land.

    I wish you well
