First Question: I have had two miscarriages and recently discovered I had low progesterone. My FSH and estrogen levels were tested and that all came out fine. The doctor wants me to do the clomid challenge to see how I would respond to medication. He prescribed 100 mg a day. I did some research and found most doctors start you off at 50mg. I am very concerned about side effects as my body is very sensitive to medication. Did anyone start at 100 mg and still get pregnant? I ovulate on my own regularly every month.
Second Question: The doctor has discovered that I have low progesterone as noted above. Has anyone used fertility drugs like clomid to increase progesterone levels, i.e. to get a better ovulation, and got pregnant?
Re: Clomid Questions (Low progesterone)
I got PG on my own the first time and the egg split and we had identical twin boys (we were about to start clomid that next cycle). This time we were impatient and I did 50mg of clomid CD3-7 and we got PG! They never tested my projesterone b/c I was able to carry the twins with no problems (we lost them due to identical twin complications with the cord implantation). Good Luck to you!
You might try the Success after IF board too! This board has women who have gone through IF and some who can conceive naturally.

I also ovulated on my own when my OB put me on 50mg of Clomid. She did this because of my age (35) and the fact that we were trying for several months with no success and to give DH's sperm "more to aim at" if I should release more than one egg.
I was also placed on progesterone suppositories prior and during the time that I did clomid (100mg, inserted nightly from 2DPO until my period or a positive PG test).
It took 2 cycles on Clomid to get pregnant with our miracle. I'd be curious why the higher dosage of Clomid for you to start on, though. It is a doozy with symptoms, I will warn you. Also, if you are on Clomid, definitely get some Preseed (sperm-friendly lube) because Clomid truly dries up your cervical mucus. I attribute Preseed for our positive test on month 2 of trying Clomid - I didn't know this side effect the first month and learned quickly!
GL!
We were in the same situation. I ovulate like clock work but have low p4 (peaked at 5 with no meds). Our ob put us on 50mg clomid though for a better egg quality (apparently I make sad tiny ones). My p4 doesn't hold so I had to be on 200mg vag. suppositories 2x's daily. On clomid alone my levels got up to 19.1 but my body couldn't sustain for pg, 2nd loss. This current pg we were on 50mg clomid and the 200mg prometrium. I did release several eggs but twins run on my side of the family...didn't know this until after we told my mom (a cousin is also pg with twins right now). Now we just wait to see if they're identical or not.

Wouldn't they not be identical since they are in 2 different sacs? I thought identical twins are in the same sac.
I thought this too...and still think ours our fraternal. ID's can still have their own placenta/sacs if the split happens early enough. I got some "lovely" pm's from the multiples board telling me how wrong I was to think they're fraternal. But we were on clomid so it's more likely that they are.

With my 1st pregnancy, I had very low progesterone, but everything else checked out okay, so, like Heidisean, I was just put on Prometrium (200 mg/day oral). I got pregnant the first cycle I took it.
