3rd Trimester

who else is doing hypnobabies or something similar?

i have to say, i was kind of embarrassed to talk to friends and family about it, but it seems to really be working in some ways. my favorite example so far has been from our other birthing class... we were all asked to write down predictions of what labor would be like, and all the other moms were really pessimistic. almost all predicted long ("longer than average") labors, some predicted being induced and a few even predicted back labor. i was the only person who predicted a short and easy labor. later, when i was listening to one of the cds, i realized that this was actually one of the suggestions. guess it's working!

anyone else? what are your experiences like?

  • I'm planning on using relaxation techniques that read about in the Bradley method. I REALLY don't want the epi, so I'm hoping I can be "strong" enough to avoid it.

we're also taking the bradley class. i really liked some of the techniques, others i wasn't crazy about. i think the most important thing is feeling prepared, you know? if you have an arsenal to go through when you actually get into labor, i feel you're less likely to be desperate for medication.

I am trying to do hypnobirthing, but was put on bed-rest with a possible induction for next week, so everything is up in the air. I haven't been able to go to my hypnobirthing classes, but the instructor is going to send me all the cd's. We'll see how it goes. I was planning on an unmedicated birth plan, but that plan has kind of gone out the window in light of my situation. I'd still like to do things as natural as possible using hypnobirthing strategies.

good luck!  i'm amazed by how quickly the relaxation techniques are working.

  • I completed (and loved) the Hypnobabies home study course.  Now just waiting on my LO to make her appearance!  As a result of the course, I am very confident and excited for birth.  Happy to share if you have any specific questions, and then of course I'll be happy to share how the birth experience went after she's here!  ;)

  • I'm just starting week 2 of hypnobabies self-study. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I have full confidence that I will be able to go through this labor calmly and quickly :) Plus I love taking the 30 minutes out a day to just lay in quiet hypnosis. It pretty much rocks.
