*~*tmrtink*~* How's new baby Peyton?!?

I totally missed out on replying to your post on his birth and now it's buried but wanted to send you a heart-felt "Congratualtions!!!" and ask how he's doing!

How's his lung-function?

How are you recovering?

Did you guys have to stay long in the hospital?

Hope you all are doing well!

  • Hi Ladies! Thanks for the congratulations. Peyton is actually doing real well-thankfully. We were able to leave on Saturday, and he's been doing better each day. All his vitals and bloodwork and what not came back normal, so they were able to take him off oxygen and unhook him from all the machines. They opted NOT to take an additional chest scan at the hospital, since at the time he was only 3 days old, and had already had 4 scans, they didn't want to expose him to additional radiation being that his vitals were on spot.

He's doing great, but still has weird and heavy breathing mainly only when he's deep in sleep, but it's a hundred percent better than it was. But still keeps me up most of the night! Dr's all said that since there was a hole in his lung, and he was still recovering from it,  it might take a little while for his breathing to be a hundred percent normal. Oddly, he's had trouble learning how to suck and take a bottle. He was solely on IV fluids, so never got to naturally breastfeed, or even bottle feed until the night before we left to go home. He sucks so much and so hard, that he 'forgets' to breathe, and I have to watch him very closely. That being said, it obviously made my decision for me in regards to whether or not I was going to breastfeed him for the first 24-48 hrs until his galactosemia results come in!! And on that note, they weren't able to perform the test until Friday morning, so we're still awaiting those results-fingers crossed!!!

All that being said, we're doing great and recovering! A rough few days in the beginning, but all that is behind us, and we're moving forward. Thanks for all the thoughts and good wishes-it really means a lot! So if I'm absent for a while, you know why-getting use to this 2 under 2 thing is trickier than I thought!! LOL. I'll post pics soon...

  • Hang in there- will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Glad to hear that things are looking up and you are all home. Rest and post pics soon!

  • That must be so hard on you, as if having a new baby isn't hard enough and doesn't cause enough worry.  :(  But it sounds like you are handling it really well... so confident and calm!

Best of luck with his recovery (and yours!) and with breastfeeding.  Keep us posted!!!
