Outdoor play structures

What kind do you have?  I know eventually we'll get one of those big wooden ones but for right now that would be too much and it's not really in the ole budget.  I'm wanting something they can use for a few years and probably plastic (little tikes, step 2, etc.)

Recs??

Re: Outdoor play structures

  • We have a wooden one that we lucked out and got for free because our realtor had another client who moved into a house that had one and they didn't want it.  It is great minus a few things that needed maintenance, but the structure was sound.  I would recommend looking on Craigslist as a lot of people give those things away when they are ready to not have them anymore.  You can probably get a good deal.

  • We bought our wooden playset when my son(oldest child) was 18 months old.  He is 9 now and my kids still play with it.  We had the baby seat swings to start out with and then just replaced those with the regular swing seats when they were old enough for them.  So instead of buying one set now and then buying a different later maybe look into one that they can keep and grow in to.

We have a Rainbow Play system.  It's just a basic small one.  https://www.rainbowplay.com/

  • We have a Rainbow set as well. We have this one:

It is HUGE! The kids are growing into it each year. We bought it last year. I'm SURE it will last us forever since DH and I can play on it! LOL!

I would try to invest in something bigger as well.

  • DH is picking up our play structure today!  It is a gift from my FIL for DD's first birthday.  It will probably take us the rest of the summer to set up, but I really don't want her climbing that much this summer, anyways!  I am really excited for her to have it because we live 45 minutes out of town and I want her to have something fun to do around our yard...
  • Sorry, no recs so not helpful but wanted to say we have been looking around too.  We just don't have the $200 or $300 for a cheapy aluminum or more for wood.  DS got a big package and we thought it was going to be one of those plastic play structures you were talking about - it wasn't.  It was a wagon.  lol.  GL!  Let us know if you pick one and like it :)

That looks so fun!  Wouldn't fit in our yard but MIL has a massive yard and is looking for a play set for DS. I'll have to keep these in mind.
