Looks like we have a tummy sleeper

So the past couple of nights have been hard with all of the crying and so on. He was squirming a lot and just really p!ssed. Well he finally rolled over from back to tummy and now he has decided that he is a tummy sleeper. DH was worried about it so he called the Pedi, who said that if he rolls over on his own, then leave him. Just never place him on his tummy.

After 10 minutes of crying tonight he rolled ot his tummy cried for another 5 minutes and fell to sleep.

I know I am going to worry and check on him every 20 minutes or so.

Re: Looks like we have a tummy sleeper

  • I wouldn't worry, especially at 7 months! I think most babies eventually end up on their tummies at some point.

You are past the peak SIDS period - up to 6 months.

Whoops...read your ticker wrong. I still wouldn't worry - whatever works at this point.
  • Both of my kiddos were on their tummies just after 2 months.  They preferred it and slept better (and longer).

Well, he did sleep longer. He actually slept from 8:30 - 3:30. That is a huge improvement!

Mine too, from about 2.5 months to 5.5 months it was the only way he would sleep.  Now he sleeps on his side sometimes too.

Try not to worry so much, on the upside your kid will have a nice round head, no flat spots!

My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!

    Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • Hannah was (and still is) a tummy sleeper too.  I fought it for about 2 days, then realized it was a losing battle.

  • As soon as G could he rolled right over, he's been a tummy sleeper ever since!  I worried about it for a few nights but decided that there's nothing I can do and he's been fine.
