Running a Name By You

I've mentioned before that my husband and I are both first generation American from two different parts of the world.  It was important to us that the names we picked for the LO worked in both languages/cultures and be actual (non-made up) names. Girls names were a piece of cake but boys names are really tough, there aren't very many crossover names for boys.

I'm pretty sure that we've got our name but would like to know if any of you would have trouble prounouncing/reading it etc.

Avner Nikhil (Nikhil is MH's name so it's a non-negotiable, Avner means father of light and has personal meaning)

Thoughts?

Re: Running a Name By You

  • I really like that name.  It's great that you two have put so much thought into the name and that it reflects your cultures.

  • I like it! It's unique, but definitely not difficult to pronounce/read/etc. Love the meaning behind it, too!

  • I also think that it is great that you two are putting so much thought into your child's name. Avner is actually very easy to pronounce and I think that the name flows well together. Good Work Big Smile

  • I think Avner is easy to read and pronounce, but people may have trouble with Nikhil.  But since it's a middle name, I don't think that's a huge deal.  I like that it has personal meaning and that it's unique without being crazy.

  • Gotta agree with everyone above - unique without being "out there", and those are great reasons why!
  • NMS but it is nice you took both your cultures into consiereration when choosing.
