2nd Trimester

anyone else measuring ahead?

So i had my appointment today and for the second time i am measuring 2 weeks ahead. The first time she told me it was normal, but this time she seemed all concerned about it. She said it could be that my dates are off, but they cant be becaue if i got pregnant any earlier it would be a miracle because my husband was in iraq. she also said it could be because im having a big baby, which scares me, or because i have eccess fluid, which also scares me because i heard that that can mean mental problems with the baby.So now im freaking myself out..  is anyone else measuring ahead? ...what have your doctors said?

Re: anyone else measuring ahead?

  • I've measured ahead almost every appt - this last time (at around 25.5 weeks, she said I was measuring around 27 weeks). They scheduled me for an ultrasound in 3 weeks to confirm that - did they confirm with an ultrasound for you? Or was it just the doc measuring your uterus? My doc didn't seem that worried - people are telling me she'll probably just be big Indifferent

My doctor just measured me, but she said at my next appointment if i was still measuring ahead they would probably send me for an ultrasound.

  • My doc also said it could have been the position of my uterus when she measured. Sometimes I wonder if its just a growth spurt that evens out over time? I think I had a growth spurt since I saw my first stretch marks this week too Sad I'm sure everything will be fine for you!

  • If your Dr. doesn't seem worried than I wouldn't worry.  The Dr. delivers numerous babies a week so I'm sure he/she knows what to look out for in that situation.
  • I was measuring 2 weeks ahead at the last checkup and the one before, but this appt I measured just right.  Midwife said it was probably just a growth spurt.

  • I was measuring about 5 days ahead at our NT scan.  My sister has measured WAY ahead with her last two boys and they were expecting her to have huge babies.  They both ended up being a pretty normal size and totally healthy :)

  • I also had my appt. today and was measuring 27 weeks when I'm only supposed to be 24 weeks. So that's 3 weeks ahead... My doctor didn't seem concerned at all... she said I was probably just having another big baby. My son was 9lbs 3oz. I really wouldn't worry too much about it.
  • when does your ob start measuring you? Mine hasnt done that all he does it listen to the heartbeat.
  • First scan - I was measuring a week behind.

Second scan - I was measuring a few days behind.

Third scan - I was measuring just about on target.

Fourth scan - I measured on target or nearly a week ahead.

My doctor hasn't said anything. We'll see what measurements are like at the next appointment!
