Projectile Vomiting:-(

Two nights in a row my poor little baby girl projectile vomited, and I don't know why. She normally eats 3-5 oz. at a feeding, and both times this happened she was just about finished with the 5 oz bottle. Could I be overfeeding her? Could it be reflux? She is 6 weeks old and weighs approx 9 lbs.

I will call my pedi in the morning, but just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and what the outcome was. I am hoping this is nothing serious:-(

 Thank you!

  • My LO projectile vomits sometimes,  and its usually in the mornings when I'm fullest and the milk comes out really fast. The nurse said if she gulps it down so fast, it comes right back up.

I wouldn't be too concerned, but still call your doc. It sounds like she might be eating too much too fast. What kind of bottle/nipple are you using? Any way you could use a slower flow at all or different bottle, and maybe see if that helps it from forcefully coming back up?

  • I use the Avent bottles with their slowest nipple. Any suggestions on a different bottle?

    Thank you!

We had a HUGE problem with projectile vomiting and we started burping LO between each ounce of the bottle.  It makes meal time last a little longer, but we haven't had a projectile vomit in over a month.
