Help please - carseat/booster

So currently DD is in the Britax Roundabout. She has topped out on the height limit/shoulder height, but no the weight.

She is currently  3yrs, 40inches tall, 32 lbs. I am afraid to put her in a booster (high-backed one) unless it had 5 point harness as I am quite sure she would continually unbuckle herself. But I also don't want to spend a fortune on something that I can only use for her for a little while and then have to buy another "something" when she outgrows this one.

The other issue is I technically need 2 seats...one for my car (I am primary car/daycare drop-off). But my mom watches DS and sometimes will also pick up DD from daycare if I can not get there for some reason - and if I don't know about it ahead of time i can not give her the seat to do so - so we really need a 2nd seat that is available for some one else to use in their car.

I am looking at the Britax Frontier 85 - but really haven't heard much about this...does anyone have personal exp with this? Can you recommend anything that might be less exp? I might get this one for my car but something less exp for the 2nd "just in case" seat.

HELP!!!

Thanks!!!

Re: Help please - carseat/booster

  • We're probably getting this for DS when it's time to move DD to a convertible carseat:

The 5 point harness goes up to 65 lbs.

Here are some reviews of boosters with 5 pt. harnesses.

  • We just got the graco natalus for DD2 and its a 5 pt harness but then also switches to a backless booster once ready. It is cheaper than the Britax one and has great reviews. I waited until I got the 20% off coupon from BRU to go buy it
  • We have the Britax Frontier for DD #1 and like it.  I have nothing to compare it to.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • I've heard good things about the Graco Nautilus (although no personal experience as we're able to use the Britax Blvds for a while).  I think the Nautilus is also well rated in Baby Bargains.
  • I had the same thing with my DD and I just moved her into the Graco Nautilus and I'm VERY happy with it. Good seat for a good price and she'll be in a regular booster in about a year and a half when I need it for DS.. So I'll get my money's worth..
  • We have both our girls in the Graco Nautilus. Very pleased (especially since we had DD1 in one during a front end collision and she was just fine in it) (and yes, insurance replaced both car seats since then). I like that it has the 5-pt harness up to 65 lbs and that it converts to a seat-belt-type seat and converts again to a backless booster. I found the best price on Amazon.com.
  • Another vote for the Graco Nautilus--DD#1 is tall too and is really comfortable in the seat and I like the convertability of it.
