We just got back from our big family vacation in Maine, and I wanted to share a couple of pics. After watching me wear David for most of the trip, my Dad decided he wanted in on the action! He insisted on flipping the babyhawk inside out so the pattern wouldn't show, but he mastered both the front and back carries in no time. He wore David for the entire second half of the week.
We hiked up a (small) mountain with David on Papa's back, 3 hours, and he couldn't stop talking about how much he enjoyed it. Every time he stopped, DS would kick him in the sides and Dad would yell - "Go, Pack Mule, Go!"

LOL, I didn't think it was too bad, but he did! This is the square on the front.
So cute!!!
Quick question - can you wear your baby facing out on the front in this carrier (as in the first pic)? I have the Bjorn and am looking into something else that's good for me and DD and she prefers to be facing out.
No, you can't face out, but you can back carry.
Love the print!
that is awesome and just so sweet!
That is so sweet!
Makes me wish both DS's grandads didn't have such bad backs.

Sort of. It's not suitable for longer periods of time, but we've found a way. DS is still little enough that he's comfy in the "froggy" position. When his legs stick out, he's uncomfortable.
I wouldn't use this regularly, but Dad wanted DS to be able to "see" the top of Cadillac Mountain (we drove to the top of this one). He was only like this for about 30 minutes and seemed to enjoy it.
You tie it just like the regular front newborn carry, but face the baby out.
