I Have a 4 Year Old Coming Over

She is very energetic and mom and dad let her watch movies all day long.  I am not letting her watch more than one movie today.

I need ideas for things to do.

I was thinking bubbles.  Make your own pizza lunch.  And maybe some sprinkler action.  It is pretty warm here.

I need some backup ideas.  Throw 'em at me, please!!

  • sounds like you have some good ideas!!! gl!
Photobucket AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • Loading the player...
  • Freeze dance - put on a music channel and press pause on the remote. You can do this while feeding K.

What movie are you watching? Can you have her draw a picture of her favorite part of the movie? or print a coloring page and let her color it?

    Hopscotch, color with chalk

Red light, Green light or Mother May I (again you can play while sitting/ feeding K)

Give her stuffed animals and ask her to put on a puppet show for K.  Either help her act it out or be part of the audience.

Ask her what she would most like to do, she will most likely have an answer that is doable.

    GL!

  • I was also going to suggest sidewalk chalk. I think all kids love that.
  • Anything art related is usually perfect!  Rowen loves to color, draw, paint, and he adores sidewalk chalk.  He is really big on doing anything creative.  He likes to make music and listen to music and dance.  He also loves to build with blocks.  We also spend a lot of time outside playing in the yard.  He likes to run in the sprinkler and chase a ball around.  Today he has done nothing but play with his cars and little plastic animals.  Four years old is such a fantastic age and they are so much fun!  Have a great time with her.  I think you have some wonderful ideas.

  • Kasey is 3 but she has older cousins so my suggestions would be: sidewalk chalk, bubbles (OUTSIDE because they'll make your floors slippery), and the sprinkler.  Then come in and do the little pizzas.  Maybe you could spread a blanket outside & have a picnic, or do an indoor picnic if it's too warm outside.  My niece LOVED playing dress up, doing her hair, doing MY hair, painting her nails, etc.  Oh, and blanket forts are ALWAYS a big hit with the kids in my family!
