Similac Sensitive for Spitup

We switched DD to formula from breastmilk last week. She's currently on Similac Sensitive. She has spit up a TON. She used to spit up a little when she was EBF, but now it's just pouring out of her. Do any of you mommies use the Sensitive for Spitup? Does it work well? And being that it has rice solids in it, should i call pedi before i switch to it, or is the rice in it NBD?

Thanks :)

Re: Similac Sensitive for Spitup

  • Mine is on it (my cans still say Sensitive RS....but I know they're rolling out new cans that say Sensitive for Spit Up) for his AR.  He was spitting up TONS, and this has helped soooo much.  Does your LO have AR?  I talked to my pedi before switching.  We did meds first, then changed his formula a week later.

She's never been diagnosed with it. She was always a happy spitter, and had no other signs really. The only thing we've noticed with this increased spitting is that she makes a face like it tastes bad (And who could blame her!)

  • Mine is on it.  She still spits up a lot though.  I will say it's the best formula we've had her on.  Others would come right back up.

  • My LO is using this and I'm not a big fan. It gets so frothy when I mix it, I feel like it's creating even more air for her to swallow. We just started meds for reflux though so I am going to wait a week or so to switch. I'll probably go to enfamil sensitive.

Does your lO use a paci? I was told that sucking on a paci after eating will aid digestion. My LO doesn't really like one but will take it occassionaly.

  • I was wondering about this as well - we're getting ready to switch DD to it.

I have had a hard time with the frothy bubbles, too.  My solution is to mix the formula in one bottle (I stir it with a spoon and not by shaking) and then put it in the bottle I'll be feeding her with.

  • What bottles and nipples do you all use since it's thicker?  I'm using Born Free and made the holes bigger...anything else working well for you?
