Baby #2 is here!

XP from my local board:Emily Elizabeth arrived at 12:39 pm on Friday the 16th, via scheduled c-section. She was 7 lbs 5 oz and 20.25 inches long.  She has a head full of dark hair, which was quite a shock, considering DH, DD, and I are all pale with light hair.  My mom said I was born with bushy black hair, so I guess she looks like I did as a baby.  DH requested a DNA test.  ;-)We came home this morning, and I'm currently resting with her on the couch, while my amazing DH takes care of our older DD and the lunch dishes.  :)  DD loves her new baby sister, and keeps pointing out all of her things "Baby's hat!  Baby's sock!"  It's so sweet, and I'm so in love just watching her be a big sister. The c-section went fairly well, but I did lose a little more blood than they wanted, and ended up with gas in my shoulders during the surgery that made it feel like I was having a heart attack.  They had to give me extra pain killers for that, and then extra meds for the major itching reaction from the painkillers, which resulted in me being completely out of it for the rest of the day.  Luckily I was feeling much better by Saturday, and it all resulted in a healthy baby girl.  :-)After experiencing both, I really don't know why anyone would choose an elective c-section over a vaginal birth.  If we ever have a third, I hope to be able to use the hole nature gave me, and not have them cut me a new one.  ;-)

  • Congrats!  What a pretty name!
  • Congratulations!!  What a cutie:)

Sorry to hear about the issues with your c-section:(  Oddly enough, my planned c/s with DD#2 was the easiest of all 3 of my kiddos.  I wanted to try a VBAC (DD#1 was vag, DS was an emergency c/s) but my doc was a no-go on that.  Oh well, a healthy baby was all that mattered:)

  • Holy HOT MAMA, you look amazing in your new siggy pic!  So happy and relaxed.   :)

Sounds like quite an ordeal but it seems your excitement over your DD's reaction to new baby Emily and having Emily in your arms is helping you to overcome it quickly.  LOVE the name Emily (but I am a bit biased, ha!)!

    Congratulations!!!

  • Congratulations! Her name is lovely! I hope you have a quick recovery! Love the phrase 'the hole nature gave me' LOL!
  • Oh the love that grows between two siblings is almost more magical than the love you have for them individually.  At least that's my opinion.  I want to cry sometimes it's so amazing.

    Congratulations and welcome Emily!
